Kidde Fenwal Intern Report Out Notes

These are the notes to my final presentation as a summer intern for Kidde Fenwal. Click bottom-right button on slideshow to enlarge.

 Accomplishment 1: NFPA
The National Fire Protection Association is the biggest expo for us. All companies in the fire protection industry are there (like our competitors 3M, TYCO, Honeywell etc.) thus 5 out of the 6 brands have tradeshow booths. Planning for a tradeshow entails budgeting, flooring, lighting, graphics, designing, freight shipment and the actual construction of booth.

Accomplishment 2:Website Updates
I did edits on all 4 websites with HTML coding (utcfsmarine.com, kiddefiresystems.com, fenwalfire.com, efs-fire.com). I uploaded revised versions of datasheets to web for distributors to use when compiling a contract. For the utcfs marine website, I mapped out 50+ pages using excel to correct for misdirected links and graphics. I sent this to Margaret in England, the assistant to the tech director Brian Roderick and now they use it as their master spreadsheet for future improvement tracking. With her corrections, I then fixed all issues. I also created a new layout for the homepage with her design. She sent me what she wanted the page to look like and I did the backhand work.

Accomplishment 3:Graphic Work
I got to use my Photoshop skills to create fundraiser ads for local businesses. The company held a benefit for a UTC employee who lost his house in the tornadoes that struck MA. Money was raised through raffles and auction prizes donated by the local businesses. In return, their ad was published in a pamphlet.

I also made "save the date" graphics for upcoming distributor meetings.

I used shutterstock to browse and download important images for websites, promotional handouts, tradeshow booths, advertisements etc.

I also got the chance to tour our printing vendor, Advanced Imaging's facility to see their capabilities and get a better idea on the printing process. They handle all graphic work from banner stands to tradeshow graphics. It is important to keep good relationships with partners to ensure B2B and quality of projects. Quality matters in marketing because brand appearance is the first impression to customers.
